About

In fall 2007, we organised an international youth exchange with Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) people from the Netherlands, Estonia, Czech Republic and Germany.

During this youth exchange the group concentrated on the period of national socialism, with a focus on the daily life and the murder of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people living in Europe. The outcomes of the 2nd world war and nazi persecution had deep influence on these people and their communities in all European countries.

The Interviews with contemporary witnesses as well as all other activities during the project, were documented by the participants themselves. Therefore there were four media-workshops, where Audio, Video, Photo and Weblog were taught and created together. On a daily basis all things seen and heard were uploaded to this weblog, which serves as our online project diary.

Other activities included doing a workshop at the Gay-Museum Berlin, visiting the “House of the Wannsee Conference” Memorial and visiting the former concentration camp Sachsenhausen, sachsenhausen.jpgas well as intercultural group work about this period and some inputs and workshops from experts on this subject.

Because of intercultural group work, the youth got to know different aspects of their own as well as the other cultures, and found out what they have in common and what not. This was interesting as we were focusing on the history and watching the current situation of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender People of the participating countries.

The project is under the auspicies of the ex member of the German parlement Christan Schenk
